Three people have been charged with their involvement in a shooting on Thaxton School Road Jan. 2, including a mother and her daughter.

This week Deepraj Islam Khan, 19, formerly of Forest, Sandra Faye Campbell, 46, of Thaxton, and her daughter, Amanda Lynn Campbell, 18, of Thaxton were each charged with aggravated malicious wounding and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, according to Major Ricky Gardner of the Bedford County Sheriff's Office.

Khan was arrested in Georgia Tuesday. He is currently on Army active duty training at Fort Gordon, Georgia. He is a member of the Virginia National Guard and was at home, in the Gretna area of Pittsylvania County, on leave at the time of the shooting, according to the report from Gardner. Khan is being held in the Richmond County Jail in Augusta, Ga., awaiting an extradition hearing.

Sandra Faye Campbell of 1757 Thaxton School Road was also arrested on Tuesday. She is being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Bedford on no bond.

On Wednesday, Amanda Lynn Campbell, of 1129 Mountain Trail Road, Thaxton, was arrested. She is also being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Bedford on no bond.

On Jan. 2 Jesse Glenn Phillips, 44, was shot at 1757 Thaxton School Road. He was visiting that residence and was shot as he walked to the door. According to initial reports, no one was home at the time of the shooting. He walked to a neighbor's house who called 911 to report the incident.

Phillips was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Gardner said earlier this month that Phillips does not live at the Thaxton address where the shooting took place, but had gone there to visit the person who does reside there. "When he got there, that's when the shots rang out," Gardner said.
