Dr. Marvin McGinnis, principal of Body Camp Elementary School, and Marsha Sheinman, the school’s secretary/bookkeeper, were placed on administrative leave last week just as students were preparing for this week’s return to school.
Ryan Edwards, the school division’s spokesman, wouldn’t reveal the reason for the move, stating that it was a personnel matter. The Bedford County School Board will review the issue to see if any further action will be taken.
Edwards said that Dr. Fred Conner was sent to the school as acting principal. Conner has served as principal of Bedford Science and Technology Center (BSTC) for three years. He was just appointed this year as the school division’s supervisor for career and technology education. Prior to going to BSTC, he had served as principal at Otter River Elementary School.
“We are confident that that school [Body Camp Elementary School] will make a smooth transition to the first day of school, come this Monday,” Edwards said on Friday.
