Bomb threat investigated at JF

Bedford County Sheriff’s Office investigators and the school resource officer at Jefferson Forest High School are investigating a bomb threat at the school today (Friday, Nov. 4).

A teacher found where someone wrote on a boy’s bathroom wall that there was a bomb in the school. The writing was found this morning around 11:25 a.m. and the school was evacuated. Deputies along with the sheriff’s office’s explosive K-9 responded to the school. The building was deemed safe approximately one hour later and the staff and students were allowed to reenter the school.

This is the second bomb threat at Jefferson Forest High School this school year. The first occurred on October 17, 2011. The investigations continue in both incidences.

Anyone with information on this crime can call the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office at 586-7827 or Central Virginia Crime Stoppers at 1-888-798-5900. Crime Stopper callers remain anonymous and may receive a reward up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
