Pastor's 22nd anniversary

Celebrate the 22nd anniversary of Shiloh Baptist Church pastor, the Rev. Phillip Brown, and first lady Sister Sharon Brown. This will occur on April 21-22. On Saturday, April 21, at 5 p.m. there will be a musical featuring the St. John Gospel Chorus of Forest. On Sunday, April 22, at the 11 a.m. service, the Rev. Joe Dillard of Norfolk, will be the guest speaker. The Spinner Family of Lynchburg will render the music. After the service, lunch will be served. At 3 p.m., the Rev. Russell Lee, pastor of Chapel Grove Baptist Church, Evington, and his congregation will be the guest.


Spring Swing

Bethlehem United Methodist Church will hold its 4th Annual Spring Swing charity golf tournament May 7 at noon at Westlake Country Club. Entry fee for golf is $65 and includes green fees and carts, prizes and Westlake’s backyard barbeque. Fees and forms are due April 24. Adams Family concert

The Adams family from Natalie will be in concert on Saturday, April 21 at 6 p.m. at Olive Branch Baptist Church. This is a birthday month celebration, sponsored by Marion Craghead. The Rev. Alvin Smith is pastor.


Blue Grass Gospel Music Social

Blue Grass Gospel Music Social at Center Point United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 21.  The "Blankenship Family Grass Band" will present this evening of  Gospel Music from 7-9 p.m.  There is no charge and refreshments will be served.  Center Point is located at 1177 Timber Ridge Road (1/4 mile off route 221 on right).


Family and Friends Night

Gospel Travliers of Farmville will be in concert at Gospel Fellowship Temple on April 21 at 6 p.m. Pastor is the Rev. John Spinner.

Appreciation Sunday

Sunday, April 22 will be Taylor's Mountain Appreciation Sunday at Cool Spring Presbyterian Church. Taylor's Mountain has long had a reputation as a wild, dangerous place full of moonshiners. What is not always known is that most people who live there are decent, hardworking people; people who work long hours at multiple jobs to provide for their families; people who are always willing to lend a hand to someone in need. 21st anniversary

On Sunday, April 22 at 4 p.m., the Ruby Jones Choir will celebrate its 21st anniversary at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Goode. The program will feature in concert “The New Creations” of Appomattox, accompanied by Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Choir of Lynchburg as guest choir.


Mt. Olivet Church anniversary

Mt. Oilvet Baptist Church, Bunker Hill Loop, Pastor Jesse Waller, will celebrate its 142nd church anniversary program on April 22, at 3 p.m. The preacher for the service will be Dr. Jack Wilson from St. Paul Baptist Church.


AWANA program

Sunday, April 22, Morgans Baptist Church is having its AWANA program this Sunday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for preschoolers (age 3) through eighth grade. This week's theme is Bike Night. Western Light anniversary

The Western Light Gospel Chorus will be celebrating its anniversary on Sunday, April 22, at 3 p.m., at the Western Light Baptist Church, Bedford. In concert will be the Voices of Praise from Roanoke, along with Maple Street Baptist Church as the guest choir. The Rev. James E. Johnson, Jr. is the pastor.

Lighthouse FWBC to host Reed Creek Gospel Bluegrass band

The Reed Creek Bluegrass Gospel Band will be in concert on Sunday night, April 29, 6 p.m. at Lighthouse FWBC. This is a free event. An offering will be taken.
Reed Creek has been entertaining audiences in central Virginia since 1996. The group works hard to give their audience a wide variety of bluegrass favorites during every show. Whether they are playing for small gatherings at the local church, or for thousands of people gathered around a festival stage, the band's quality performance standards remain the same.
From four-part harmonies to blazing instrumentals, Reed Creek plays a wide variety of traditional and contemporary Bluegrass and Bluegrass Gospel that audiences are sure to enjoy.

Missionary Day

On Sunday, April 29, at 11 a.m., Missionary Day will be observed at the Poplar Spring Baptist Church in Goode. The Rev. Dr. Herman Robertson will deliver the morning message and the New Image Choir of First Baptist Church of Goode, will render the music.


Sunday Song Service

Evington United Methodist Church will be having its 5th Sunday Song Service at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 29, featuring “Gospel to the Bone.” They will be conducting the entire service. A fellowship meal follows.


Timber Ridge Baptist Church concert

Timber Ridge Baptist Church, Sunday, April 29 at 11 a.m., singer/songwriter Robert Earl Craig, will be singing songs from his new CD. King Country Agape Fest. A Top 10 finalist for Male Songwriter of the Year and top 10 finalist for Male Horizon award. Don Shire in concert

Don Shire, internationally known trumpeter and recording artist, will be in concert on April 29, at 7 p.m. at Mountain View Union Church. Shire appears frequently on Christian TV and radio and is regarded by many as one of the finest Christian trumpet players in the United States. His concert tours and mission outreach has taken him to 34 countries outside the United States. He also shares stories from his travels, including trips to play his trumpet for primitive tribes living in the bush of Africa and the rain forests of South America. No tickets necessary. Youth Sunday

On Sunday, April 29, at 11 a.m., Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Goode, will celebrate Youth Sunday. The guest speaker will be Marcus Banks of Lynchburg and music rendered by the Washington Street Baptist Church & Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Bedford, combined Youth Choir.

Sunday, April 29. Morgans Baptist Church is having its AWANA program this Sunday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for preschoolers (age 3) through eighth grade. Church wide yard sale

Saturday, May 5 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Bedford Baptist Youth will have their annual Church wide yard sale at 602 Westview Ave. Proceeds will benefit the Summer Mission Trip. There will be something for everyone.


Plant sale benefit

Saturday, May 5 from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Bedford Baptist Church Youth will have an annual plant sale at 604 Peaks Street (near Bedford Middle School). Quality plants from Turkey Mountain Greenhouses will be available and the proceeds will benefit their Summer Mission Trip to Alabama.

Senior Choir 76th Anniversary

On Sunday, May 6, at 3 p.m. at the Poplar Spring Baptist Church in Goode, the Senior Choir will celebrate its 76th anniversary. Deacon Arthur Williams of Oakmulgee Baptist Church, Bedford, will be in concert. Also, Deacon George Saunders and the Spiritual Four from Leesville will be on the program. The Rev. Dr. Herman Robertson is the pastor.
