Revival services at Evington UMC
Evington United Methodist Church will hold revival services on Sunday, May 6 through Wednesday, May 9, at 6:30 p.m. Chaplain Blonnie Gregory will be guest speaker each night and there will be special music each night. The Rev. Orville Gregory Jr. will have special music on Monday night.
Spring Swing Charity Golf Tournament
Would you like to win $10,000 cash (plus $2,000 for charity)? How about a flat screen TV, a set of Callaway irons, or two airline tickets to anywhere in the U.S? All it takes is a hole-in-one at the Bethlehem United Methodist fourth annual Spring Swing Charity Golf Tournament.
The “Captain’s Choice” tournament begins at noon, May 7 at Westlake Country Club. The $70 entry fee includes green fees and carts, prizes and Westlake’s backyard barbecue. All proceeds will support area charities in the surrounding community.
Charitable organizations benefitting this year include Lake Christian Ministries, SML Good Neighbors, Henry Fork Service Center, Bedford Domestic Violence Services, Good Samaritans, Franklin County Family Resource Center and Body Camp Backpack Program. Last year’s Spring Swing donated almost $6,000 to local charity organizations.
Major sponsors for this year’s Spring Swing are: Friends of Bethlehem UMC (gold); Mulch ‘N More, located in Roanoke (silver); Capps Home Building Center, in Moneta (bronze) and Friends of Spring Swing and Dave and Kathryn Natysin (bronze).

Learning about world hunger
The youth at Morgans Baptist Church in Bedford county will be participating in a 30 Hour Famine from May 18-20 to raise funds for World Vision and to raise awareness of hunger. This will be their fist time in doing this. These are local kids who go to Staunton River and some that are homeschooled.
The Chestnut Grove Baptist Church will be having worship services on the 2nd and 3rd Sundays of each month beginning May 13 with Sunday School at 10 a.m. and worship service at 11 a.m.
At Shady Grove Baptist Church, 1861 Jordantown Road, Thaxton: Shady Grove will be hosting Terry and Debi Nester, Uganda Missionaries the week of April 29, beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday and contiuning at 7 p.m. Monday throguh Thursday.

Lighthouse FWBC to host Reed Creek Gospel Bluegrass band
The Reed Creek Bluegrass Gospel Band will be in concert on Sunday night, April 29, 6 p.m. at Lighthouse FWBC. This is a free event. An offering will be taken.
Reed Creek has been entertaining audiences in central Virginia since 1996. The group works hard to give their audience a wide variety of bluegrass favorites during every show. Whether they are playing for small gatherings at the local church, or for thousands of people gathered around a festival stage, the band's quality performance standards remain the same.
From four-part harmonies to blazing instrumentals, Reed Creek plays a wide variety of traditional and contemporary Bluegrass and Bluegrass Gospel that audiences are sure to enjoy.

Presbyterian Frontier Fellowship speaker
On Sunday, April 29, the Rev. Donald Marsden of Presbyterian Frontier Fellowship will be speaking at Cool Spring Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. Presbyterian Frontier Fellowship is a mission ministry that attempts to reach ethnic groups around the world that do not have the Bible in their own language. Gospel Grass to the Bone
.Evington United Methodist Church will have a 5th Sunday Song Service at 11am., Sunday, April 29, featuring “Gospel Grass To The Bone”. They will conduct the entire service. A fellowship meal to follow.

Don Shire in concert
Don Shire, internationally known trumpeter and recording artist, will be in concert on April 29, at 7 p.m. at Mountain View Union Church. Shire appears frequently on Christian TV and radio and is regarded by many as one of the finest Christian trumpet players in the United States. His concert tours and mission outreach has taken him to 34 countries outside the United States. He also shares stories from his travels, including trips to play his trumpet for primitive tribes living in the bush of Africa and the rain forests of South America. No tickets necessary. Senior Choir Anniversary
The Western Light Baptist Church Senior Choir will be celebrating its anniversary on Sunday, April 29, at 11 a.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Alvin Henderson, pastor of The Washington Street Baptist Church and the Mt. Rock Men’s Chorus will provide the music for this service.
Shiloh Baptist Church will be having a Musical Program featuring various musical groups on Sunday, April 29 at 5 p.m. The program will help with the church's building fund.

One Nation Under God
The Goode Volunteer Rescue Squad Auxiliary will be honoring the military at the 61st annual observance of the National Day of Prayer. It will be held at Busch Hall on Route 221, Thursday, May 3, from 8-10 a.m. Breakfast will be served at 8 a.m., the program starts at 8:30 a.m. The theme scripture for this year is Psalm 33:12, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” All are invited. Evington Prayer observance
Evington United Methodist Church will host a National Day of Prayer observance on Thursday, May 3. The church will be open for prayer from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Prayer partners will be available. There will also be light refreshments.

The Bedford Christian Church Spring Fling will be held Saturday, May 5, from noon to 3 p.m. at Bedford Christian Church, 1928 Moneta Rd., Bedford. There will be various games for children and adults, information on the church and on the summer Vacation Bible School. There will be free hot dogs and other goodies. Bring a kite and enjoy some kite flying as well.
Jorgensen to appear at Cave opening
From Ice Hockey to Disney to Nashville, Dana Jorgensen has come a long way. He will be performing in Forest at the Grand Opening of the "Cave" in the lower level of Mountain View United Methodist Church on May 5 from 7 -9 p.m. with a period of open mic prior to his performance. Cost is $5 at the door. Light concessions will be sold at this informal concert for all who would like to enjoy a night of great music. This artist is talented in piano, guitar and voice and has several CD's. The church is located off Rt 221 near Perrowville Road intersection. Saturday, May 5 from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Bedford Baptist Church Youth will have an annual plant sale at 604 Peaks Street (near Bedford Middle School). Quality plants from Turkey Mountain Greenhouses will be available and the proceeds will benefit their Summer Mission Trip to Alabama.

Senior Choir 76th Anniversary
On Sunday, May 6, at 3 p.m. at the Poplar Spring Baptist Church in Goode, the Senior Choir will celebrate its 76th anniversary. Deacon Arthur Williams of Oakmulgee Baptist Church, Bedford, will be in concert. Also, Deacon George Saunders and the Spiritual Four from Leesville will be on the program. The Rev. The Smith Mountain Lake Seventh-day Adventist church will be hosting a series of movies continuing through July on the first Monday of each month. The next movie scheduled is Hungry For Change on Monday, May 7, at 6:30 p.m.
