Liberty defeated Heritage, 6-0, on Thursday night behind the 19-strikeout performance of sophomore pitching sensation Cassidy Hensley.
The victory gave the Lady M-Men a share of the regular season Seminole District title, along with Brookville. Both teams finished their district runs with 10-2 records.
The good news? Liberty was awarded the top seed for the Seminole tournament, which translated into a first-round bye on Monday. The tie breaker came down to who did better against third-place Amherst. Liberty had swept the Lancers, while the Bees went 1-1 against them.
Both teams automatically qualify as the top two seeds from the district for regional play. Whichever does better in the Seminole tourney will get the number one seed for Regionals.
