A Bedford County man has been charged with stabbing his wife Thursday night.
At 8:22 p.m. Thursday, Bedford County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence on Wheatland Road after receiving a call from a female reporting a domestic dispute at the address.
According to a release from the Sheriff's Office, deputies found the caller lying in the driveway with stab wounds to her abdomen. The victim told the deputies that her husband, Kenneth Fitzgerald, had stabbed her. She was transported to Carillon Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Deputies arrested Kenneth Fitzgerald, 56, at the scene and charged him with malicious wounding. He was transported to Bedford County Memorial Hospital with cut wounds to both his wrists.
After being treated, he was transported to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Bedford, where he was being held without bond Friday morning.
