Crash claims life of Pittsville man

    An 80-year-old Pittsville, Va., man died in a two-vehicle accident last Thursday afternoon.

    The accident occurred around 2 p.m. on Route 608 about a mile east of route 734 in the Huddleston area.

    Richard Smith Anderson, 80, was driving a 2000 Ford van and died as a result of injuries from the accident. According to  Sgt. Bob Carpentieri of the Virginia State Police he was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.
