It seemed appropriate that a game featuring two schools named for rivers would be a bit damp. So it was when Staunton River headed to James River Friday night.
The conditions for this “mud-iron” matchup were already tenuous at best, and an early first-half rain further exacerbated the conditions.
River head man Chuck Poston saw his team jump out to a 12-0 halftime lead before finishing off the Knights for a 39-15 victory.
