If you believe volunteering is all about giving to others, you’ve missed half the point. Very often you will find that you “get” even better than you “give”.

Make happy memories! Sign up to help with the Astride with Pride Summer Camp. Volunteers are needed five days a week, 8:30 a.m. until noon, to assist with horseback-riding lessons for children and adults with disabilities. Experience with horses is valuable but not required, training is provided. Volunteers must be 14-years-old or older. Contact Nancy at 587-0668 or astridewithpride@aol.com.

New to Bedford? Here’s your chance to learn more about your new home and your new neighbors. Bedford Area Welcome Center would like to add to its volunteer pool. Basic computer skills are desired as well as a willingness to work the cash register. Volunteers work in pairs or with a staff member. The Welcome Center is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Contact Rob Jarvis at 587-5681, ext. 5684.

Go with a tune in your head and leave with a song in your heart. The Bedford Adult Day Care Center needs persons to lead singing programs with the center’s clients. You will be reminded instantly of the magic of music as you share moments of joy and memories of happier times with the adults there. Bedford Christian Ministries needs volunteer receptionists, assistant receptionists, financial aid counselors, and food pantry, clothing closet and household helpers. Computer skills required for receptionists and financial aid counselor positions. Hours of operation are 9:30 a.m. until noon on Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Contact Linda Daniel at 586-4872.

Bedford Memorial Hospital seeks volunteers willing to become part of the Hospital’s patient care team. Volunteers will be matched with programs suited to their interests, skills and availability. Turn your spare moments into high-value time by assisting a neighbor in need. Bedford Ride needs volunteers 25-years-of-age or older to drive clients to appointments. Drivers are needed for all areas of Bedford City and County. Vehicles, insurance and gas are provided. Volunteers must have clean driving records, be able to pass criminal background checks and drug screenings.
