Former SRHS teacher arrested
Bedford County Sheriff?s Office investigators received a complaint on Oct. 1, 2007, of possible improper conduct by a former teacher towards a former student at Staunton River High School.
Bedford County Sheriff?s investigators along with Bedford County Social Services Child Protective investigators and officials with the Bedford County School System investigated the complaint.
After a lengthy investigation, David Allen Cherry, 38, 1324 Oak Lawn Drive, Forest, was arrested on Jan. 8, and charged with three counts of sodomy and one count of indecent liberties with a minor. The incidents allegedly occurred during the fall of 2005. The investigation is still on-going.
Cherry is currently out of jail on a $25,000 bond.
