JF teacher arrested, suspended from duties

A Jefferson Forest High School English teacher has been suspended and has tendered his resignation following his arrest for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

According to Major Ricky Gardner of the Bedford County Sheriff's Office an alleged incident occurred between Joseph Clark, 28, and a minor on the evening of April 28 or early Sunday morning, April 29. Clark was arrested on Thursday, May 10.

Clark had been employed with the school system since August 2009 and will not be returning to teach at Jefferson Forest, according to Ryan Edwards, public relations coordinator with Bedford County Public Schools.

According to police, the alleged incident was reported to school officials and a sheriff’s school resource officer on Friday May 4.

Following his arrest, Clark, who lives in Forest, was transported to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Bedford and was released on bond.

The alleged incident did not occur on school property, Major Gardner stated in a news release.
