Thanks for forum
Thanks to General John Douglass, 5th District Congressional candidate, for bringing his Help VA Families Forum to Bedford.
He has an impressive resume: a career in the U.S. Air Force, serving on President Reagan’s National Security Council and Assistant Secretary of the Navy under President Clinton. On August 1, 2012, he brought his ideas for giving VA families a fair chance for a better future to a panel discussion with community representatives.
Douglass believes improvements in public education are critical to solving many problems our nation faces. Increasing teacher salaries, especially in rural areas, would help. We should consider longer school days and year-around school.
Vocational training should be brought back and second chance opportunities for drop-outs provided. Job seekers and job creators should be brought together. Douglass believes our current Medicare and Social Security systems must be protected. Instead of military operations abroad, he believes more should be done to secure who and what crosses our borders.
Too many war-zone tours have left our veterans with problems that must be addressed. He also has concerns over uranium mining for physical and environmental problems it can cause.
What an interesting evening with the openness of General Douglass and wide-ranging ideas from panel members.

I believe God does retain Power over all things, to allow or stop anything in our feeble conceptions. Yet, He allows us to enjoy, and suffer, the consequences of our own choices and actions, and of those around us.
Because mankind chose to disobey Jehovah, chose to have the Knowledge of Good and Evil, the ground is cursed; we have to toil and suffer hardship in this world which Satan is leading. These events can help us to realize our need of and dependency upon God, and how Glorious and Holy God is, was, and always will be. He wants us to have a personal and intimate relationship with Him, so we can understand how much He loves us and tries to steer us clear of such things which have bad effects on us and those around us.
Our founding government recognized the Bible’s teachings as beneficial for a society, promoting well-being, unity, health, strong families, duty to each other, and responsible governing. The government was designed to be of the people, for the people, and by the people.
If the people read and learned the Bible, and the government listened to the people and acted on behalf of what is truly best for the people, and in accordance to God’s Word, this country would truly be blessed. Unfortunately, too many have allowed greed, power and selfish decisions to alter our governing structure, where the voices of money and power are heard over the people or God! The time of the end is upon us, and God’s Kingdom will truly reign.
Every knee shall bow before Christ Jesus, and every tongue shall confess to God. Jehovah sent Jesus to save us, to free us from the binds of this world and the grasp of death.
