Family expresses appreciation

To all of our neighbors, friends, family, including the local businesses, churches, the Bedford Volunteer Fire and Rescue Departments, Bedford Police Department, and the City of Bedford Employees:

Kevin and I cannot find the words to express our appreciation for all that you did and continue to do for us during our recent tragedy. We continue to be overwhelmed and grateful with the outpouring of gifts, thoughts, and prayers from our community. We apologize that it has taken so long to get this note of appreciation to print. We have been overwhelmed with every facet of this experience and are just beginning to come to grips  with everything. God has really blessed us with great support (spiritually and emotionally), good health, a renewed sense of humility, and a community that is unparalleled in their ability to follow the path of God. For this we are eternally grateful.

Please remember that if there is anything we can do to repay you all for the outpouring of love shown to us, that we are merely a phone call away.

A socialist quest for power

The new Socialist aka Democratic administration loves a good crisis. And today’s government induced economic downturn, crisis seems to be the order of the day.

It is not enough that this bunch of weak-minded liberals sold the taxpayer out with their payback to non-productive cronies à la a redistribution of wealth Socialist spending plan. No, now comes the really scary part, government controlled collective health care. Now it really is life or death.

Anyone that thinks a half-baked bureaucrat in Washington DC should have the power to tell an individual what kind of medical care they need or deserve, is already on way too much prescription medicine. Once these socialists drive their power hungry claws into this issue, they will damage our way of life in ways I fear we could never repair.

Free enterprise is the engine that has given us advances in medicine and health care few would have thought possible 100 years ago. The free thinkers that have contributed to the standard of health care we now enjoy are about to be replaced with socialist drones who answer to a massive government agency, and not to the individuals with whom they are given charge.

The government’s plan will require a massive reallocation of resources from those who now have health care and a subsequent redistribution to those who do not. This will by design, lower the quality of care to allow the millions of non-productive, non-contributing people who will not take the initiative to pursue health insurance on their own, into the collective.

It has been observed that according to England’s socialist heath care policy, the prerequisite for obtaining an effective medication used to combat macular degeneration, which leads to blindness, is the actual loss of an eye. This medication is rationed to the point that a person would actually have to lose one eye to qualify for it. Is this not madness? Why would anyone even partially sane consider placing our health care structure into the hands of left wing lunatics like Pelosi, Reed, Frank, Obama and Schumer?

One need only to look at the massive spending spree we have witnessed in the first month of this new administration to realize these people are unconcerned with the average taxpayer in this country. They are interested only in whatever fringe vote they need to continue in their quest for collective power. I would encourage you, as taxpayers, as people with mothers, fathers, grandparents, children, loved ones and friends, to adamantly oppose any attempt to nationalize health care. I would furthermore encourage you to research the crisis that ensues as a result of this socialist policy, but as I stated before, the left loves a crisis.

Rick Howell’s inaccuracies

I  was born in Bedford County, have always lived here and have prospered through working all my life, without any help from any government, but from what I was raised and taught which is self-determination. But when I read a column by Rick Howell who uses inaccuracies in his comments, and would like for the “majority” to think that his “minority” views are what people believe and desire. He is merely using the Bedford Bulletin as a soapbox for his views which he “thinks” the majority believes in, but is definitely wrong.

I believe in free speech, but as private citizens we are only allowed “one”  editorial per month, he gets to post his garbage weekly. Since he uses the “cover” of being a former “employee” of the Lynchburg newspaper, he uses that so he can post his nonsense weekly,  but funny, how on his blog of trash “Rick Howell Speaks” he is constantly worried about what the News and Advance is printing (his former ex-employer) especially if it is anything concerning morals or Christianity. I will dissect his totally far left tree hugging Anti-Christian, racist, Anti-American socialist cheering garbage one by one, and especially his ignorance of history concerning Abraham Lincoln, who did not “free” anybody.

Consider this also, he lists on his “blog” that he is a schoolteacher in the Roanoke County School system, with links to the Daily Kos, which  is full of garbage that Howell supports such as reversal of Prop 8 in California which Howell  “proudly” contributed to, the reversal of Proposition 8 would allow homosexuals to marry.

Now isn’t that a just cause? People in today's society start listening to garbage like this, then finally start “accepting” it. I bet the parents of some of the children  in the Roanoke School system don’t realize what and who is supposedly “educating” their children. I will be glad to let them know.

Ok, to begin with Barack Obama has been elected President of the United States.

While I didn’t vote for him, I will give him the benefit of the doubt, and hope he does great things. But Howell’s recent column “criticizes” Republicans or anyone who doesn’t use the bobbing “yes” head to everything he (Obama)  says.

Remember Howell, what party has been in power in the house and Senate since 2006? That’s right… It’s the Democratic Party.

Here’s another statement Howell has on his “blog”: This is a fascinating time in which to live. Not only have we made history with the first African-American president. So, Why does the media (and just about everyone) refer to Barack Obama as African-American when he is not? They call him our “first black president”. He is BI-RACIAL!! His mother is white-so he is just as much white as he is black! Is it just for sensationalism? Why don’t they say “first bi-racial president”? It is the truth! Africa is a country...not a race. Many white people as well as other races  are born in Africa. If they came to this country would THEY be African-Americans?

Here’s Howell’s definition of success for Obama. So far, he  signed an order to shut down, within a year, the notorious prison camp for “terrorists” at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The word belongs in quotes because most of those held there are simply fighters captured on the fields of Afghanistan. Right, they were just “organized” military units “protecting” their homes, freedom fighters for their homeland,  maybe your Americans United group could sue them and tell them they can’t pray in public. What a joke.

Challenge to you again Howell, where are the accomplishments of  “your” saviors in the Presidency, Congress, and House? Remember, they control all three branches now, no excuses.

Next, Howell tries to portray that he is for equality among races, while he deliberately uses racist comments against the white race. Example, when referring to the Republican Convention last Fall, he mentioned by “color”  all the “white faces” and the well heeled “white people” in the audience. Talk about a hypocrite? Reverse that with another color and see what kind of response it gets. There’s your example of society “accepting” the garbage he spews.

Now  another one of the big ones. He is a hypocrite on, purposely “trying” to promote that its illegal to “pray” or use the name of Jesus Christ or anything related to Christianity in schools, or public. He would like people, (as would most atheists) to “think” that they are in violation of a law that “prohibits Congress”  from exercising their freedom of religion.

I have heard children actually saying that “they can’t pray because they will get sent to the principal's office and get in trouble, which means that they start to think that its “bad” to pray to the Lord as though it's “wrong”. This is what the “atheistic” organization  he is so “proud” of with its scare tactics of lawsuits if someone exercises their “free exercise” of worship. Wonder why he isn’t showing the front page on “his” proud organization's (Americans United for the Separation of Church and State) website? They are “bashing” Obama for “Praying For The Stimulus Package?: White House Needs To Drop Invocations At Rallies” Why aren’t you writing about that in your pathetic columns Howell?

Here is another pathetic article on his “blog”, Roanoke City Council should drop “invocations,” as all governments should… Which he sarcastically follows up with “whatever” after the word “Amen” which is used to end a prayer to the Lord as quoted in the next sentence.

Amen....or whatever. But as long as this controversy endures I will display the proud logo of the organization that does the most to promote separation of church and state: Americans United. Indeed, most Americans believe in the creed of the organization whose logo I’ve again posted here, Americans United for Separation of Church and State.

Sorry to burst your bubble here Howell, but your assumption that “most Americans” believe in the creed, is grossly wrong.

Here are some following statements by “Howell” on his blog concerning Christianity:

First the “hate” of Dr. Falwell, Wednesday, June 13, 2007-am, through, getting a kick out of seeing Newman’s pet idea for naming a section of U.S. 460 for Jerry Falwell (Newman was chief sponsor), go down to defeat on a News-Advance online poll. Indeed, why should we name anything after Falwell when he’s already raped that mountain over there with those “LU” initials? Isn’t that enough?

Guess what Howell? The stretch of road “is” named after Dr. Falwell, and the “LU” is there to stay. You better hope that you can ever do 1/1000000 of what Falwell did for the area and world by  having a top University in the area, and the exceptional students it has. If it were up to you, there would probably be billboard signs offering free abortions, and huge photos of Malcom X  in that area. Also, quit worrying about  Darrell Laurant, your garbage will never match up.

He speaks of Russell Ball as vice president of the ASCS (Americans for the Separation of Church and State) (Russ is one of the original members of the chapter, and is a key link to the Unitarian/Universalist community, people who strongly support separation of church and state);         Heres a qoute by Howell concerning the ASCS: The policy proposal we’re sending to Campbell schools can be summed up this way: No religious group shall be allowed on public school grounds for the purpose of handing out Bibles or other religious texts; nor shall they be allowed to proselytize in any way. That’s going to be too much for the “average citizen” of Campbell County. But it’s absolutely consistent with the Constitution of the United States, and the school board needs to adopt it. It is not the job of public schools to assist Gideons International by presenting a captive audience of school kids for Bible handouts.

I hope everyone is beginning to get a picture of what he writes in the paper weekly, but how about the parents of students that he is exposed to?

Tuesday, May 15, 2007-Jerry Falwell is dead; long live separation of church and state.

Thursday, May 03, 2007-On National Day of Prayer, let’s pray for separation of church and state. My prayer today - after those for my son and immediate family, is that our country will honor its Constitution and preserve the First Amendment’s insistence that matters of state remain separate from matters of religion

He calls Dr. James Dobson's, “Focus on the Family.” a “piously led” organization. Yeah, Howell something with some morals, is exactly that.

Funny how Howell “prays” for things, when he tries so hard to stop prayer, he uses as I said before phrases on his “blog” such as “Thank God, Merciful God, etc. but wants that to stay out and be eliminated. He even calls the former  President of the United States a S.O.B. (April 2007) when he calls for impeachment. Now you see his mentality here again, He doesn’t realize that when you call someone a S.O.B., you are not referring to them but their mother. Nice to know the school system has this jerk for a “educator”, isn’t it?

Too bad the AU for Separation is “criticizing President Obama on their website for not “living” up to their wishes, but Howell doesn’t  dare write anything about that, wonder why?

And Abraham Lincoln? While Howell Constantly lives in the past bashing President Bush, what would he do if President Bush sent 75,000 troops to “invade” Virginia  like Lincoln did?  Lincoln deliberately provoked Ft. Sumter into firing the first shot by the following action: Before Fort Sumter, the Confederacy sent emissaries to Washington to discuss a compromise. Lincoln refused to meet with them, lest a presidential meeting confer legitimacy on a secession he refused to recognize. Against the advice of army chief General Winfield Scott, Secretary of State William H. Seward Secretary of War Simon Cameron, and Secretary of the Navy Gideon Welles, all of whom advocated evacuating Fort Sumter, he sent the Star of the West to resupply the fort. Viewing this as a provocation, the Southerners fired on the fort, and the American flag, and the great war was on.

And Southerners were perhaps not mistaken in their belief that Lincoln had provoked the conflict. As Lincoln wrote with quiet satisfaction to Assistant Secretary of the Navy Gustavus Fox, commander of the expedition to Fort Sumter, on May 1, 1861: “You and I both anticipated that the cause of the country would be advanced by making the attempt to provision Fort-Sumpter [sic], even if it should fail; and it is no small consolation now to feel that our anticipation is justified by the result.”

Now, the “myth” Howell and other inaccurate people like for you to believe is that Lincoln freed the slaves and was a great President, so here are Lincoln's words and deeds.

At the dedication of Gettysburg Battlefield, on November 19, 1863, three years after Lincoln's election, the Great Myth was born. There, Abraham Lincoln declared that the war had been, all along, about equality.

Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal

But four score and seven years before Lincoln spoke was 1776 Moreover, in reaching back to 1776, Lincoln had invoked, in defense of a war to crush a rebellion, the most powerful brief every written on behalf of rebellion. The Declaration of Independence is not about preserving a union. It is a declaration of secession; it is about the Right of the People to alter or to abolish one form of government and to institute new Government, laying its Foundation on such Principles, and organizing its Powers on such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. It is about a person's right to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the Powers of the Earth, the separate and equal Station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them.

I will have more on my next letter concerning this since private citizens/customers only get one article per 30 days. Keep your myths coming Howell, you spark my writing hand, and remember, “Congress” shall make “No Law” respecting establishment of religion, which means “No Law”  or  did you read the next part? “Prohibiting the free exercise thereof”. Don’t let Howell fool you with his immoral views and wishes. He still can’t list any achievements of his tree hugging party.
