The Bedford Country Club might be a place of quiet solitude.
Don’t try to tell that to its lady golfers.
They made a lot of noise at the Central Virginia Women’s Golf Tournament, which wrapped up last Sunday.
In spite of the fact that Bedford’s country club has just a nine-hole course, it produced two third-place finishers from different flights, a second-place finisher, and the overall champion.
Debbie Reynolds took home the big trophy for the third time in the last five years. It is also the second time in three years that she has won the title.
Reynolds won in convincing fashion, dominating the 54-hole event by eight strokes.
She led from start to finish, taking a two-stroke lead over eventual runner-up Becky Hawkins in the first round of play.
She increased her edge to five strokes during the second day.
The rounds were played in Appomattox, Brookneal and Forest.
Hey, maybe next time they’ll play in Bedford!
