ObamaCare is still a bad law

    A few weeks ago a fellow stopped by and handed me three sheets of paper which appeared to be the contents of an e-mail that he printed. The source seems to be a Web site called askmarion. I located an article at http://askmarion.wordpress.com/2011/05/03/dhimmitude-on-page-107-of-obam... . It was about “dhimmitude” and its contents closely, but not precisely, match the wording of what I was given.
     It claims that the word is in the ObamaCare bill, specifically on page 107. According to the e-mail “dhimmitude” is the Muslim system of controlling non-Muslim populations in countries they rule by taxing them. It’s a method of coercing them into converting to Islam. According to the e-mail, ObamaCare allows the establishment of “dhimmitude” and Muslim Sharia law in the U. S. and exempts Muslims from the mandate to buy health insurance.
    According to a Wikipedia article, the word “dhimmitude” is the result of adding a French suffix to an Arabic noun that refers to the non-Muslim subjects of a Muslim state. It was first used by Bachir Gemayel in 1982. Gemayel, a Lebanese Christian leader, coined it in reference to efforts by Lebanon’s Muslim majority to subjugate the country’s large Christian minority
    I first saw the allegation that "dhimmitude" is in Obamacare in an e-mail that was forwarded to me, two years ago, and it got my attention. I did an Internet search to verify it and it turned out to be bogus. I repeated this process after the gentleman gave me the paper copy. Again, I got the same result. Every place I looked stated that this claim is not true. The askmarion page that this item appears to have  come from has a link to Snopes, which declared the claim to be false.
    Just to be sure, I downloaded a copy of the ObamaCare bill and went to page 107. The word is not there.
    While ObamaCare isn’t a backdoor effort by President Barack Hussein Obama to coerce us all into becoming Muslims, the law is still a very bad law.
    In spite of its claim to make healthcare affordable, it is actually doing the opposite. Medical insurance premiums have gone up every year since President Obama railroaded this thing through Congress, using some fancy footwork to get the job done in total disregard of the fact that the American public did not want it.
    The law does nothing to contain costs and those are going up. Doctors are not just standing there, like deer in the headlights, waiting get run over. They are taking steps to protect themselves and some of these steps are going to reduce competition and raise prices for everyone.
    Then, there is the matter of paying for this mess that President Obama has imposed on us. One way is a $716 billion reduction in Medicare spending over 10 years. The government would save money by paying less to providers and Medicare Advantage plans.
    President Obama and his fellow “Democrats” claim that this won’t affect current Medicare recipients at all, but it will. Paying less to Medicare Advantage plans means that the people who have these plans will pay more. Paying less to providers will mean that some providers will simply stop accepting Medicare patients. I’ve heard of some people who have already had to switch doctors because their physician’s practice has stopped accepting Medicare due to its current reimbursement rates. This will get worse if the president’s plan is carried out.
    And let’s not forget rationing. The talk about “death panels” may have been overwrought, but there will be rationing. The only difference between life under ObamaCare and what we had BO (Before Obama), is that your treatment will be denied by government bureaucrats rather that insurance company bureaucrats.
    ObamaCare establishes a super committee charged with determining “best practices.” This is how rationing will eventually be imposed. If the treatment you need doesn’t fall under the “best practices” list this committee comes up with, then it won’t be covered and you’ll just be out of luck.
