Photo of the week: The tinniest toad

-A A +A

A wee amphibian graces our pages

Tyler Wasson was riding his bike at Falling Creek Park when he came across this ant-sized amphibian.  It took a close examination to determine that it was a toad.  Usually, Tyler uses a Canon Rebel T1i for his photography, but he didn't have it on himself at the time.  So, he caught this macro-like shot with a his HTC Evo Phone.  He framed the shot in his free (gloved) hand to give perspective on just how tiny is Mr. Toad.  "I just had to tap the ground behind him to get him to hop toward my hand,"  said Tyler.  "By using this method, I didn't harm him.  With trial and error, he finally landed on my hand."  Tyler had to be fast to snap his shot before the little fellow hopped off in search of whatever it is that toads seek.  Tyler has been shooting for three years, and has studied photography at Virginia Western Community College.
