The only thing sweeter than beating your archrivals in football might be taking the game away from them in the last seconds of the fourth quarter, and that is just what Staunton River did to William Byrd, on a wet and cold Friday night in Vinton.
In a game that River Head Coach Chuck Poston called, “The sweetest victory I’ve ever been a part of in 18 years of coaching,” the Eagles took a 24 – 20 win, and in doing so kept their playoff hopes alive.
