Road conditions have improved today as warmer temperatures and the efforts of equipment operators have cleared most roads of snow. This afternoon and tonight, drivers are cautioned to watch for slick spots, particularly on secondary roads (those numbered 600 and above), on bridges and overpasses, in the higher elevations, cooler spots and shaded areas.
As temperatures drop, icy spots may form on roads. In some areas, snow plow operators will be monitoring conditions tonight on bridges, overpasses and other cooler spots. Snow plow drivers will be ready and mobilized to plow and treat roads if winter weather creates road conditions on Saturday.
VDOT crews also are focused on repairing damage from flooding. Crews are repairing washed-out roads and waiting for high water to recede to be able to reopen others. For a list of flooded roads, visit www.511Virginia.org and click on text views and select road conditions table.
