State Champs flex on Jeff Forest

 It was expected to be an emotional opening night at Northside.

Cav Head Coach Don Rice was likely dealing with more than anyone else at Viking Stadium.

The coach watched, as the team representing his alma mater was introduced to the ecstatic Northside crowd as the 2009 Division 3 State Champions.

Then Rice glanced into the bleachers to spot his family.  There sat his mother, who had cheered Rice on when he played for the Vikings. 

Absent was his father, who had passed away just weeks ago.
