We’re not sure whether to say that boxing returned to Bedford, or that boxing came to Bedford for the first time. That’s how long it has been since the sweet science may (or may not) have been hosted in Bedford. From now on, though, we can state that the sport certainly came to us in April of 2010. That’s when a six-fight card took place at Jeff Forest High School. The main driver on this event? None other than the Bedford Bomber, the Peaks of Slaughter, the Staunton River Slugger: Our own Scott “Cujo” Sigmon. The event drew a good-sized crowd, thanks in large part to the enthusiasm that Cujo’s one-man crusade is generating for boxing. In addition to developing local interest in the sport, Cujo is doing well for himself in the ring. At year end, his professional record stands at 13-2.
