Traffic alert: Road work to close two routes in Bedford County to through traffic

Beginning Monday, June 18, two roads in Bedford County will be closed to through traffic due to road work.
First, a section of Route 731 (Dowdy Crossing) in the Huddleston area will be closed for replacement of the bridge over Crab Orchard Creek.  The bridge is located on Route 731 approximately 0.7 mile south of its intersection with Route 727 (Crab Orchard Road).  Route 731 is estimated to reopen on Friday, June 22.
