Two Roanoke residents have been arrested on prostitution-related charges that allegedly occurred in Bedford County.

On Friday, January 27, Bedford Co. Sheriff’s Office vice investigators arrested the two individuals at a Bedford motel. The arrests were the results of a joint investigation with the Roanoke Police Department and the Bedford Co. Sheriff’s Office.
Jennifer Leigh Shepherd, 25, 1614 Chapman Ave. Apt. B, Roanoke, was arrested and charged with solicitation of prostitution and two charges of possession of schedule one drugs (cocaine and prescription drugs). She was bonded from jail on January 29.
Donald Wayne Fountain, 62, 1019 Rugby Blvd. Roanoke,  was arrested and charged with felony possession of a schedule one drug, (cocaine), felony prostitution (profiting from), and with aiding prostitution. Fountain was bonded from jail on February 5.
A preliminary hearing for Fountain scheduled for Monday was continued in General District Court. The hearing is now scheduled for April 25. Shepherd is also scheduled to appear in court that day.
Major Ricky Gardner of the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation is ongoing.
Gardner said a similar investigation into this type of crime—which includes the use of social networking media—occurred in the county several years ago. “Hopefully we made a statement that we’re not going to tolerate that in Bedford County,” he said. “We’re trying to make sure they know we’re out there and we’re not going to tolerate that.”
