Voter turnout for last week's election was average for a state and local election that does not feature a gubernatorial candidate.
Voter turnout in Bedford County was 31 percent.
"It's pretty much our norm," commented Barbara Gunter, the county's registrar.
In the city, 37 percent of all registered voters came to the polls. City Registrar Randi Herrick said that this is the same percentage the city saw in the 2003 election, a comparable election year.
