Stacy Doss, 30, of Vinton died as the result of a single-car accident early Friday morning.

According to Virginia State Trooper A.S. Dayes, Doss was a passenger in the cream-colored 1993 Saturn when it left Bellevue Road traveling south and flipped over. Dayes said Doss, who was ejected from the vehicle, was wearing the shoulder harness of the seatbelt, but wasn't wearing the lap portion.

The driver of the vehicle, Linwood Gregory Rice, 32, of Montvale, said he swerved to miss a deer that had stepped in front of the car along the gravel road, according to the report. Gregory told investigators the car swerved to the left, got off the side of the road and overturned.

A Virginia State Police accident reconstruction team investigated at the scene and results are still pending. Gregory has been charged with reckless driving.
