Liberty High School Class of 1990 Reunion
Join for a weekend of friends, memories, and family! Friday, Oct. 8, is Homecoming at the baseball field at 6:30. Bring your family and your school spirit. On Saturday, Oct. 9, there will be a family picnic from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Peaks of Otter. Bring your picnic lunch. Again on Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Bedford Country Club. $30 per person/$60 per couple at 7 p.m. RSVP for this event.
Hickory Grove UMC celebrates 50th anniversary
Hickory Grove United Methodist Church will hold its 50th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, Oct. 2, and Sunday, Oct. 3. Saturday’s festivities begin at noon with dinner at 12:30 p.m. followed by special music and games for children. The Golden Anniversary Service will be on Sunday at 9 a.m. While Hickory Grove United Methodist Church has existed as a congregation for over 100 years, this 50 Years of Faith and Fellowship event is a celebration of the church building where members worship today.
Bedford Pregnancy Center finds temporary home
The Bedford Pregnancy Center now has a temporary home at Brookhill Wesleyan Church 1043 Cifax Road Forest, 24551. The phone number is the same (540) 587-5900. The Pregnancy Center will be able to continue seeing clients as usual. The organization is seeking a permanent building for the Center to purchase. Anyone who would like to make a tax deductible donation may send those to P.O. Box 632, Bedford, VA 24523.
Squire Parsons concert
A Labor Day Weekend concert with Squire Parsons will be held on Sunday, Sept. 5, at 11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 800 Smith Street, Bedford. The Rev. Ray Lyons, Sr. is pastor. (540) 586-3434.
Squire Parsons, a native of West Virginia, was raised in a Christian home and was introduced to gospel music by his parents. His father, Squire Parsons, Sr., was a choir director in their home church and taught shaped note gospel music.
