        Billy Wayne Moore, 51, of Moneta died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012.  He was born in Rocky Mount, on Dec. 10, 1960 a son of the late Clyde and Helen Moore. 
        He is survived by his wife, Lisa Moore; daughter and son-in-law, Brittany and David Bauer;  step-son, Ryan Linkenhoker; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Danny Holdren; mother-in-law, Betty Huffman; brother and sisters –in-law, Ernest and Betty Huffman, Jerry Huffman, Doug and Patty Huffman; “brother”, Steve Hurt; numerous nieces and nephews.

  • Louise P. Varnadore, 85, Hurt

        Louise Pagans Varnadore, 85 of Hurt, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012 at Gretna Health & Rehab. Center. She was a daughter of the late Ernest Howard Pagans and Myrtle Bennett Pagans.
        She is survived by her husband, William Henry Vanadore; three sons, Kenneth Varnadore, Bill Varnadore Leonard Keith Varnadore;  a sister, Marjorie Rorer.
        A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Updike Funeral Chapel, Huddleston. Interment will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.

        Edith Creasy Hicks, 81, of Bedford, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2012 at her residence.  She was born in Bedford County on Aug.18, 1930 a daughter of the late Nick L. Creasy and Annie Mae Sprouse Creasy.
        Edith was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and was a retired Insurance agent working with Farm Bureau and Bedford Mutual.  She was active in the Bedford 4 H Pony Drill Team and was instrumental in the Ladies Farm Tour.

        Joe Louis Creasy, 73, of Bedford, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Bedford on July 28, 1938, a son of the late Joe Owen Creasy and Lillian Agee Creasy. 
        In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Roxie Katherine Creasy and his sister, Mary Jane Creasy. 
        He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

        Teresa Gayle (McKinney) Cook, of Moneta, passed away on Jan. 27, 2012. She was born Nov. 30, 1946, in Richmond, a daughter of the late Eldridge Matthew McKinney and Nina Winnifred (Rowlett) McKinney of Bedford.
        She was the beloved wife of Pete Cook; mother of Charlene (Cook) Drake, Andrew Cook, and Brandon Cook; and grandmother of six. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Paige Keltz, of Bedford.

        Cynthia Jones Kavanagh, 55, of Travelers Rest, South Carolina died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012. She was the daughter of Jack Allen Jones and wife Ruby and the late Gaye HoldrenJones.
        Surviving, in addition to her father are four daughters, Brandi Gravley, Carmen Ramantanin, Carla Fell, and Andrea Kavanagh; a son, Brett Kavanagh.

        Joanne Marie Sharp Dawson, 71, of Goode, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012 at her residence. She was twice married and preceded in death by both husbands, Raymond Marshall Sharp and Clark Edward Dawson. Born October 2, 1940 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late David E. and Hazel Powell Booth.
        She was retired from Ericsson after many years of service. She was a member, in early life, at Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church and later watched the service of Gethsemane Baptist Church on television due to her health.

        Dorothy (Meme) Bissonette, 101, a resident of Bedford County Nursing Home, rejoined her beloved husband, Theodore Bissonette, deceased 1978 and a baby daughter, Marlene, on Jan. 17, 2012. Dorothy was born in Burlington,Vt on Oct. 17, 1910.
        A communicant of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, Dorothy is survived by daughters Elizabeth Hemminger, Beverly Terry, and son Theodore Bissonette; Thirteen grandchildren including Patricia Gilhuly of Bedford, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and sixteen great-great-grandchildren.
