• Josephine L. Cofer, 89, Bedford

        Josephine Luck Cofer, 89, of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012. She was born in Bedford County on Oct. 2, 1922, a daughter of the late James Wellington Luck and Zelma Gladys Arrington Luck. 
        She was the widow of Harry Alton Cofer and a member of Walnut Grove Union Church.
        She is survived by her sons, C. Marshall Cofer of Bedford and Clyde M. Cofer of Montvale; a sister, Emily Jo Dooley of Thaxton; also two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

  • Sherril B. Woodford, 80, Huddleston

        Sherril Bennett Woodford, 80 of Huddleston, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on Sunday, Sept. 20, 1931 in Bedford Co., a son of the late William Garland Woodford and Roberta Howell Woodford. He was a retired engineer with Norfolk & Southern Railway. 

  • Jack D. Moulder, 84, Bedford

        Jack Dudley Moulder, 84 of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012 at his residence. He was a son of the late Morgan Mansford Moulder and Anna Ethel Hall Moulder.
        He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Notestine Moulder; a son, Gregg Dudley Moulder; two daughters, Gloria Jean Winters, Elisabeth Suzanne RioSeco.
        A funeral service was conducted at the graveside at Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery on Monday, Feb. 27, 2012 at 3 p.m.

  • Peggy T. Johnson, 81, Bedford

        Peggy Ann Turner Johnson, 81 years old of Bedford passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was the eldest child of Willie Fred and Lucile Holdren Turner. Born June 13, 1930, she grew up in the Bunker Hill Community of Southern Bedford County.
        She graduated from Moneta High School then Madison College with a B.A. Degree in Elementary Education. Later she earned her Master’s Degree from the University of Virginia.

  • Peggy O. Blankenship, 81, Moneta

        Peggy Overstreet Blankenship, 81 of Moneta, passed away Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012 at Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on Sunday, Feb. 22, 1931 in Roanoke, a daughter of the late Frank Jeter Overstreet and Annie Frances Huffman Overstreet. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Edward Overstreet.

  • John Santamaria, Sr., 102, Bedford

        John Santamaria, Sr., 102 of the Elks National Home, Bedford, VA, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012.  He was born on Jan. 6, 1910, in Pontecorvo, Italy.   He was the son of Thomas and Genny Santamaria. 
        John was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Anne, a daughter, Judith Doucette and granddaughter, Jill Doucette. 

  • Neda H. Craig, 94, Bedford

        Neda Hawkins Craig, 94 of Bedford, passed away Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012 at Bedford County Nursing Home. She was born on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 1918 in Bedford Co., a daughter of the late Major Alfred Hawkins and Beatrice Padgett Craig. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Allen Steger Craig.
        She was a lifetime member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church.

  • Margaret H. Bovee, 85, Bedford

        Margaret Harvey Bovee, 85,of Bedford and formerly of Danville, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012 at Bedford Memorial Hospital.  She was born in Roanoke on Nov. 4,1926 a daughter of the late Horace Harvey and Lora Meador Harvey. 

  • Margaret C. Sisson, Deltaville - Ft. Monroe

        Margaret Crawford Crute Sisson, having served in the Church Militant is now in the Church Triumphant Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012.
        Margaret was a loving and beloved partner to Richard B. Sisson in fifty years of ministry. She was a leader in the United Methodist Women, loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, secretary, and licensed practical nurse. She was born Oct. 15, 1937.

  • Col. Jack L. Price, Sr., USAF Ret., Goode

        Col. Jack Lewis Price, Sr., USAF Ret., 84, of Goode, passed away Monday, Feb. 13, 2012. Born Aug. 27, 1927, in Gate City; he was the husband of the late Patricia Ann Callan Price and a son of the late Clarence Rothelle Price and Ruth Ann Haynes Price.
