    Rufus Dwight Orange, Sr., 64, of Bedford, died Thursday, June 21, 2012 at his residence.  He was born Feb. 16, 1948 in Bedford County a son of Irene Overstreet Orange and Rufus Cosby Orange.
    Rufus was a U.S. Army veteran.  He loved hunting, fishing and being around people.

    Merriman Carlton Witt, 90 of Bedford, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012 at his residence. He was born on Sunday, Dec.11, 1921 in Bedford County, a son of the late John Clayton Witt and Myrtha Martin Witt. He was also preceded in death by a son, Kenny “Dash” Witt.
    He was a retired employee of the Lane Company and member of Ephesus United Methodist Church. He was also a World War II U. S. Army veteran participating in the 3rd wave of the D Day Normandy Invasion.

    William E. Lloyd (Chandler) age 56,of Bedford, passed away on May 31st after a brief illness with cancer.
    He is survived by his daughter, Ranee Lloyd-Hoss, husband Gregory, grandson Bodi and Dalton of North Hills, Texas, sister Vicki Chandler of Rocky Mount, his twin brother Chuck Lloyd of Bedford, his brother, John Lloyd, wife Darlene of Bedford, his nephews Matthew Ader and wife Kristy of Chesapeake, David Lloyd and wife, Jackie of Fort Polk, LA., his grandnephews Austin and Connor, and grandnieces Alysa and Morgan.

    Warren Holmes “Pudden” Updike, 87, of Bedford died peacefully on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the Elks National Home. He was born on June 24, 1924 in Moneta, son of the late Warren Livingston Updike and Lula Roberts Updike.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wray Holland Updike, his brother, Edwin Ashby Updike, a sister, Hilda Updike Ayers,  and a son-in-law, James Ray “Jim” Melton.
