        Thomas J. Abbott, 75, of Richmond, passed away May 11, 2012.
        He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Anne Britton Abbott; his twin children, daughter, Blair Abbott Mitchell and her husband, Brad, and son, Michael Abbott and his wife, Elizabeth.
        Mr. Abbott was preceded in death by two sisters, Rachel and Margaret; and is survived by a brother, Bob Abbott; and sister, Betty Smith; and many nieces and nephews.

        Mary Czok   pas-sed away peacefully on April 23, 2012 at the Carriage Hill Retirement Home in Bedford.
        Ms. Czok moved to Virginia from Washington, D.C. about seven years ago. She worked as a secretary for several departments of the U. S. Government. For over fifty years she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Washington, D.C.

    Myrtle Beatrice (“Bea”) Wright Torr, 94, of Lynchburg, passed away on April 22, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Luther Carden and the late Alva Wooten Carden.
    She is survived by her daughter, Linda Wright Trent of Lynchburg; a son, Doyle Wright (Yung) of Greensboro, NC; a granddaughter, Wendy Pribble (Rhonda Eubank) of Lynchburg; a great-grandson, Jacob Pribble of Lynchburg; a sister, Doris Witt of Rustburg, as well as many nieces and nephews.

    Kenneth Eugene Gentry, 76 of Thaxton, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2012 at Summit Health Care Center. He was a son of the late Carl Gentry and Edna Craig Gentry.
    He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Jean Toogood Gentry; two daughters, Marie Huffman, Kathy Sheetz.
    A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford.

    Larry Grant Overstreet, 60 of Bedford, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2012 at The Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Blacksburg. Born on May 23, 1951 in Roanoke, a son of the late Thomas Larry Overstreet and Hattie Lee Grant Overstreet.
    Larry is survived by his brother, Michael Overstreet and his wife, Anne of Blacksburg; two nephews, Jacob Overstreet of Martinsville and Daniel Overstreet of Blacksburg; also a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Family and Friends.

    She is survived by her son, Roland L. Kendrick.
    A funeral service was conducted from the graveside at Morgans Baptist Church Cemetery on Friday, April 20, 2012 with Rev. Melvin Harris officiating.

    Frank W. Left-wich, Jr., 88, formerly of Bedford County and one time Sheriff’s Deputy, died suddenly and unexpected Thursday, April 19, 2012.
    He was a WWII Navy Veteran. He was the son of the late Walker and Gladys Leftwich of Bedford. Florida has been his home for the last 30 years.
    He is survived by his three sons James and wife, Becky, William, Paul and wife, Jeanne. Six grandchildren, Tammy, Scott, Josina, Jessica, Nick, and Sawyer. 12 great grandchildren,and one great great grandchild. One special niece Denise Donald Cocke of Bedford.

    Arlene Nellie Harris, 67, of Bedford, died Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Avante of Lynchburg. She was born Aug. 16, 1944 to the late Arnold Warren Harris and Carrie Louise Spinner Harris.
    She is survived by one son, James Harris; two daughters, Lisa H. Anderson and Tamika H. Webster, two brothers and two sisters.
    Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Mt. Rock Baptist Church, 8381 Charlemont Rd. Goode, VA. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

    Alice Cooke Giles, 93, of Bedford, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012. Born Wednesday, May 8, 1918, in Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Robert H. and Carrie Amman Cooke.
    In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clarence J. Giles, and three brothers and two sisters.
    She is survived by five nieces, two nephews, two great-nieces, and four great-nephews.
    A graveside service was conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, April 23, 2012 in Hackettstown Union Cemetery, Hackettstown, New Jersey, with Pastor Donald Gebhart officiating.
