    After briefly revisiting the issue of allowing firearms sales in residential zones, the county’s planning commission turned to discussing private roads, corridor overlays and subdivision of agricultural land. The latter entailed considerable discussion and the commission preceded its regular meeting, last week, with a 5 p.m. work session to allow ample time.

    The search for a new Bedford County administrator should reach its conclusion early next year, approximately one year after former County Administrator Kathleen Guzi resigned.
    According to District 3 Supervisor Roger Cheek, a consultant hired by the county has presented the board with a list of 10 candidates, narrowed down from a list of 41 applicants. Cheek said that the supervisors will narrow it down further, then conduct interviews.

    At the request of the Board of Supervisors, Bedford County Fire & Rescue is putting together policies to oversee volunteer members and agencies to help with emergency response coverage in the county.
