Jack and Nancy Wood of Forest had a surprise change to their vacation plans last month. The surprise came right in the middle of their trip when they became two of thousands of Americans stranded overseas when the Eyjafjallajökull volcano began erupting in Iceland.
The couple planned a trip that included Ireland and France. They took off from Lynchburg on the first leg of their trip on April 6. The plan was to first spend nine days in Ireland, then go on to France.
“We wound up spending 19 days,” Nancy commented.
