Under a budget approved by the Bedford County School Board Thursday night, Bedford Primary School will be closed next year while Body Camp Elementary will remain open.
After considering closing both schools, the board agreed at last night's special called meeting to consolidate Bedford Primary with Bedford Elementary School next year, making it a K-5 school. Sixth graders currently at the school will move over to Bedford Middle School.
All necessary precautions were taken this morning at Staunton River High School after law enforcement personnel say they received information from a parent that required immediate attention. Deputies say the father of one SRHS student called this morning to report that his firearm was missing, and that he feared his son has taken it to school.
Amazingly each year there is a national immigration ‘lottery’ by which approximately 50,000 foreign nationals receive green cards to become legal permanent residents of the U.S. Each successful applicant is chosen at random and given permanent resident status based on pure luck. The visa lottery program threatens national security, results in the unfair administration of our immigration laws, and encourages a cottage industry for fraudulent opportunists.
