EastLake Community Church has already gone to the grocery store; this week it’s going to the movie theater.
This Sunday, May 29, at 10:30 a.m. EastLake Cinema Church will hold its first service at the WestLake Cinema.
“Simply put the impetus for this ministry is a desire to proclaim the gospel as broadly and effectively as we can,” stated EastLake Community Church Pastor Troy Keaton.
The service, which will be held in one of the theaters at WestLake Cinema, will feature praise and worship, led by a worship team there, as well as a sermon, via video, on the big screen.
For information of events and activities at area churches, see the church news section in this week's paper.

The lockdowns were lifted in the area around 3:30 p.m., but area residents should continue to be careful, Brown said at a news conference Thursday.
“Just take precautions,” he said. He said if anyone suspicious is spotted, residents should immediately call 911. He added that residents should keep their cars and homes locked.
Back in March, a Bedford County jury sentenced Cecelia Burnette to eight years in prison after convicting her of felony child abuse, on March 17, in the death of her infant daughter, Marissa. Today, she was back in Bedford County Circuit Court for formal sentencing.
Burnette's defense team of David Oblon, Hilary Griffith put Burnette's mother on the stand in an effort to persuade Judge James Updike to impose a different sentence.
"She is the only child I have," said Robin Lambert, Burnette's mother.

The weak and mediocre state of the Republican presidential field for 2012 has become such a given in recent weeks, I almost feel like I’m picking on them if I write about it….
But, I said almost…Honestly, I’ve observed presidential politics for a long time, since about 1968, and I’ve never seen a field of “contenders” from an out-of-power party – Democratic or Republican – that’s this bad.
Do you remember, back in 2003, when President George W. Bush strode onto the deck on an aircraft carrier with a banner emblazoned with “Mission accomplished” hanging from the carrier’s island? He’s often been ridiculed by the left because of this, and that’s why I laughed when I read Rick Howell’s “The Liberal Agenda” last week.
