    On February 17, Bedford County Sheriff’s Investigators and Virginia State Police executed a search warrant at 3667 Mill Iron Rd. in Bedford County that resulted in the arrest of a Bedford County resident for the manufacture and distribution of methamphetamine.

    English Family Concert
        Sunday, March 4, at 3 p.m. at Poplar Spring Baptist Church on Goode. The English Family of Bedford &, The Otterville Baptist Church Mass Choir under the direction of Brother Kevin Anderson will be on the program. Also a Fashion of Ladies in Hats and Men in Suits, presented by Sister Beulah Payne of Bedford. Proceeds go toward the church building fund project.

    Our country continues to face great challenges as we work toward balancing our budget, getting Americans back to work, and putting our nation on a fiscally sustainable course.  And though this battle will not easily be won, it is a battle that we must continue to fight if we want to preserve the American Dream for our children and grandchildren.


  • A reckless and irresponsible budget

    This past week, President Obama sent his budget proposal for fiscal year 2013 to Congress. A budget proposal which contains more failed attempts to tax, spend, borrow and bail our way out of the economic difficulties that the country faces. It is these same reckless fiscal policies that have so far failed to jump start our economy.

  • Statewide Burning Law now in effect

        Virginia’s Statewide Burning Law went into effect on  February 15, also marking the start of spring fire season. 
        This law prohibits open burning before 4 p.m. each day between February 15  and April 30, 2012.  This statewide law has been implemented annually because open burning has become a major cause of wildland fires throughout our state and across the nation.
