Del Francis passed through Bedford Tuesday as part of his ride to Washington D.C.
At 74, vet seeks recognition for his fallen shipmates

    The Vietnam Memorial is incomplete, according to Del Francis.

    It’s missing the names of his 74 shipmates who died when their ship, USS Frank E. Evans (DD-754) sank. Although the Evans had deployed from the United States to provide Naval gunfire support for the troops fighting in the war, it was assigned to a joint exercise with Australian ships at the time and was determined to be not in the zone of combat at the time. That’s why the names were left off the wall.
