    Always good for a laugh

Rick Howell’s belief in the lessor intelligence of those who failed to support Hillary must include the expectation that none of us know what the Court ruled in “denying” Gore his shot at the White House.

    Two Emmylou’s and a Dwight

When did concerts become so expensive?  My BFF-husband priced upcoming Emmylou Harris, also “Da-Wight” Yoakum.  My Stars, $100 a ticket!  Howcome?  Willie/Merle, John Anderson, and Pam Tillis were more generous (about $40-$50 a ticket), David Crosby $69.  Super-talented Tellico at Bower Center awhile back was less than $20.

    Payback time

The recent editorial entitled “The Height of Hypocrisy” by John Barnhart was excellent.
The Obama administration and the DNC was appalled by the Russians interfering in our recent election as if  this has never occurred in human history. The fact of the matter is that many countries are engaged in hacking, cyber attacks and open espionage.

    Just like a tax cut

Although a few folks do not have an internet/telephone connected data device, the most of us do. Even those without a direct need for internet service may need to ride in an ambulance that needs that mobile connection to the hospital, while they try to save our lives. Internet is an infrastructure requirement just like electricity, just the way life is now.

    Roanoke’s

I picked up a Bedford Paper last week and the headline read,  “The Valve is Turned: and the Water is Flowing.”

    A suggestion

It’s been inspiring to follow the Bulletin’s coverage of the developing story of “Teens with a Dream”, to be involved by financial contribution, and to see this Bedford-based organization serve as a pilot program for towns and cities in other states, and also receive recognition for their work.

For generously supporting the “Dare to Care” TLC (toys for local Children) “A Child’s Christmas” program!
We were worried about the Toy Count, with us not having the Flotilla this year but, the SML community pulled through for the children! This year, we’ve collected around 2500 toys, for our local children of need!
We would like to thank Westlake Auto for all they do for our toy drive!

    An educated idiot

Recently Rick Howell wrote an article in your paper trying to make the case that college educated people voted in waves for Hillary Clinton in the last election -- trying to make the point that uneducated Trump voters were stupid. The only thing it proves to me is that when you educate an idiot -- all you get is an educated idiot.

    Source of
    comfort

As a new resident in Bedford County, I have taken note of the significant number of young people that have lost their lives in auto accidents. As a parent that has lost a child, I would like to share a source of comfort, especially during this time of year. (My youngest son was an Iraq War veteran - a victim of PTSD)

  • Letters to the editor 11-04-15

    Fighting for freedom

I look at the pictures of those tempest-tossed, huddled masses crowding onto the teeming shores of Europe. Many look like young men of fighting age.
I read about the illegal immigrants, again, many of whom are men of fighting age, who come across our southern border. And I consider other options.
