    Jesus
    was a
    carpenter

The retired D. C. cop who tried to respond to my recent letter starts by praising Sheriff Brown for the great job he’s doing and that both of them had worked for the D. C. Police Dept. I wonder if this is why D. C. has such a violent crime record.
I’m convinced he and Sheriff Brown have a lot in common--neither know how to tell the truth.

    The sky’s not falling

The editorial of John Barnhart in the 08 July 2015 Bedford Bulletin missed the mark on several key points.   Mr. Barnhart apparently believes he knows absolute truth.  Yet he makes erroneous historical comparisons and is unable to distinguish Supreme Court cases.

    My perspective on the sheriff

As a retired DC cop, living at the lake, I would like to comment on some comments I read in your paper last week.
I am a fairly new resident to the county but my wife’s family has lived here for approximately 20 years. My remarks are in reference to, and support of, another ‘alumni’ of the Metro Police Department, Sheriff Brown.

    Same sex marriage

The Supreme Court decision on same sex marriage will be discussed for years to come. That pronouncement will not alter deeply held religious beliefs grounded in a biblical worldview. It determines how authentic biblical Christians perceive life and provides the best explanation for life.

    Bashing
    conservatives

In his June 3 article Mr. Howell must have reached the level of all those Liberals and other  Democrats he so dearly loves. His column seems to have deteriorated in nothing   more than a “bash all Republicans/Conservatives” swill chart.

    Thanks for help

The Bedford International Alliance thanks those who helped with the Bedford Boys Cemetery Ceremony on Memorial Day.
The flowers were donated by Frederic’s Flowers and Rapid Printing. We thank American Legion Post 54, the Rev. Jack Davis, Mrs. Lisa Butler and the members of the BIA who participated in the ceremony

    Problems with article

I have a new bone to pick with John Barnhart regarding his article about Appalachian Vapors.

    Innocence lost

This week a “little bit of innocence” was lost from Bedford.
As the nice, quiet evening progressed something was taken from Bedford. Yes, it was only two Rocking Chairs that disappeared from the Welcome Center but it was a whole lot of trust and pride that was the largest loss.

    Inaccuracies in argument

So now Mr. Donald M. Campbell wants to join the tit for tat and I find myself defending the Museum again against inaccuracies.
The Museum is not a charity, it is a non-profit corporation that employees 5 tax-paying Bedford County residents and also provides employment for a large number of retired volunteers. I wish our funding was automatic, it is not.

    Time for a Change

Citizens of Bedford, we finally have the opportunity to change the direction of the county on June 9.
After 50 years of having no voice in the funding of the school system residents of the Town of Bedford, along with those in the county, can vote for members of the Board of Supervisors. Democrats, Independents, and Republicans in districts 5, 6 and 7 - you can all vote in this Republican Primary. It is vital to do so.
