    Sequestration: Let’s take a
    closer look

        You would think that the world is going to come to an end if we allow Sequestration to happen, right? … This big idea of President Obama called Sequestration was supposed to show his commitment to making cuts in spending someplace down the road if the loyal opposition  Republicans did not join him in making the hard choices in the “right” spending cuts and revenue increases on the ugly rich folks who make over $250,000.

    Knights in
    shining armor

        On Friday morning, February 1, I had an unfortunate event when all the lug nuts on one of the front wheels of my Jeep decided to “shear off” while on my way to work.  Needless to say, thank God I was on a secondary road driving at a slow speed.
        No sooner than I started to dial the number for a tow truck, a fellow stopped to assist me, and identified himself as George.  He said to give him 10 minutes -- that he’d send a couple guys to assist me.

        The Bedford County Supervisors’ latest zoning proposal is Bad News for Bedford. If you care about lower taxes, better jobs, good schools, preservation of scenic vistas or just protecting the value of your real estate, their proposed changes will be bad for you.

    Bill should be voted down

        Del. Dave Albo (R-Springfield) has introduced a bill (H2253) in the General Assembly that would repeal the state’s Land Preservation Tax Credit (LPC) to fund transportation. The Blue Ridge Land Conservancy stands firmly opposed to this bill and any others that would repeal or lessen the impact of the LPC.

    An amazing year

        2012 has been an amazing year for Bedford Community Christmas Station. 
        We moved into a new space at Westgate Shopping Center in September.  Volunteers from Brookhill Wesleyan Church, the Junior ROTC at BSTC, and other community groups helped us the with enormous task of moving our equipment and merchandise, setting up racks and shelves, and preparing to serve families in December.

        The holiday season of Christmas spending is truly out of hand.
        Families are over-extending themselves for years to come by “maxing out” numerous credit cards for that one day of celebration. Children are being over-showered with too many material gifts that to some are not really appreciated.
