        Thanks to Rick Howell

Rick Howell you are a gem in this sea of far right conservatism and religious fundamentalism.  You keep a finger in the dike of truthfulness while all around you Republican (R) falsehoods abound.

    Forgiveness: A great gift

After leaving Vista Foods onto Washington Street, going west, I was stopped at the stoplight.
As I wanted to turn right on Bridge Street, I knew a moment of contemplation was ahead for me (no right turn without a green light). I gazed at Bedford Hardware and saw something that sort of took me by surprise. The sign/banner simply said, “Christmas, a time for forgiveness.”

    Awesome

I would like to comment on how good the Christmas lights in town look. They  are finally up facing the street. They look a w e s o m e! Way to go.

    Thanks for change

First, I would like to “Thank” Frank West for his letter regarding the Christmas lights in downtown Bedford.

    What’s wrong

This is to address the letter by Bill Isaac, published in last week’s Bulletin.
His second sentence of the third paragraph states: “I didn`t vote for Sheriff Brown simply because he has the R beside his name and I`m a transplant from Detroit and a union worker for the past 25 years.”  I submit that he is a prime example of what`s wrong with this country today.

Congratulations to all of our elect Bedford County Board of Supervisors and Sheriff Mike Brown. Although I do not live in District One I did help campaign for Bill Thomasson, as well as for Sheriff Mike Brown.

    The search for Robbie Wood

On Tuesday Oct 26 as I was studying for the Air Force Association’s Cyberpatriot competition, I got a phone call. It was from an officer at my local Civil Air Patrol squadron, of which I am the Cadet Commander, calling to see if I could get a search team together for a missing person search. With the help of the other cadets with me, I activated the phone tree and was able to get a search team together in less than an hour.

    Good intentions, unintended

    consequences

The purpose of this letter is to inform Bedford County citizens that the Board of Supervisors are proposing changes to the Zoning Ordinance that have numerous  unintended consequences that could adversely impact citizens while changing the appearance of much of the County.

    Saddened by news

As a supporter of law enforcement, and as a public school teacher, I was saddened to hear of the deputy in Bedford being arrested this week for sexual activity with a minor.
I live in Bedford County and am a fan of Sheriff Brown for many reasons, mainly because of his department’s battle against sexual predators. That being said, I did want to assure myself that the department does everything possible to weed people like Mr. Grubbs out in the initial hiring process.
