    A Letter of Thanks

The board members of Bedford Habitat for Humanity would like to thank the many people who bought tickets for our raffle at Centerfest on October 10, 2015. The Winner of the 12’ x 8’ shed was Kathleen Mitchell.

    Give Trump a chance

In a column two weeks ago called “Liberal Agenda” the writer expressed an infatuation for Hillary Clinton that a great wave of middle-class, tax-paying voters in our democratic country did not agree with.

    Supports Johannessen for Council

Bruce Johannessen is not a politician.
        Bruce Johannessen is:
        • A gentleman
        • Intelligent, thoughtful and a great listener
        • A dedicated volunteer and involved with myriad civic activities, including the Bower Center for the Arts, The Bedford Public Library, The Elks Lodge, and Emory & Henry College
        • Reflective, fair and balanced

    Supports  Johannessen

We are most fortunate to have several highly qualified candidates running for positions on Bedford’s Town Council this November.
The two incumbents, Tim Black and Stacy Hailey, have both proven themselves to be dedicated to our community through their participation in assorted committees and organizations, such as Bedford Main Street, the Farmers Market, etc.; their regular appearances at community-wide events; and their active participation in Council meetings and functions.

    Businesses help make program
    a success

On behalf of Bedford County Public Schools I’m writing to express gratitude to area businesses that helped make this year’s Teacher of the Year program a success. This program rewards our top educators each year and would be impossible without the support we’re provided from business owners throughout the community.

    More info needed

I just read in my free Thanksgiving edition of the Bedford Bulletin that Liberty High School has hired a new varsity basketball coach. The seven paragraph article relates the new coach’s experience, his intuitive reaction after meeting with the Principal and another coach, and his outlook for the upcoming season.

    Disappointed

I have never been so shocked - and disappointed,  like a punch in the gut - since I’ve lived on Smith Mountain Lake as I have been during this recent election cycle.
The Republican Party of Bedford located its Election Headquarters  at the Lake – next door to the Huddleston Post Office - for the very first time this year and we experienced three instances of theft and vandalism.

    Endorses Dooley

Having known Andy Dooley for over 25 years and working with him as a Commissioner, Bedford County Department of Parks and Recreation, I feel he is the most qualified candidate for District 6 Supervisor. Please vote for Andy Dooley November 3, 2015.

    Supporting spouses of law enforcement

Over the past year law enforcement has had a lot of negative criticism.
So, we the spouses of the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office and Bedford Police Department are starting a new program to support our spouses in law enforcement. We are in the infant stages of this program; but one of the first items we would like to do is say thank you with this letter.

    Teach your children about guns

What can be done in today’s environment to protect students and  teachers from being helpless victims of crazed killers as it just happened in Roseburg, Oregon  USA?
Fear will inspire you or fear can destroy the multitudes. Wake up America! The killings are not disappearing but continue to increase.
If those students and teachers could have recognized the hopelessness of the situation many lives could have been saved.
