    Insulted by Romney

I am insulted by Mitt Romney.
I am part of the 47 percent whose vote he will never get, but I do not feel victimized or entitled to government assistance.

    A big help!

Congratulations  to a young man in 11th grade at Staunton River High School.
In Downtown Moneta this past weekend, the rescue squad had to be called to assist and transport a lady that had severe muscle spasms which also affected her breathing. She was Spanish and spoke no English.

    What’s the rush?

If the current superintendent of schools is as qualified and well suited for the job as is needed, then ask yourself this question--”What’s the rush to renew his contract before the election?”
Why do certain members of the school board seem intent on doing the contract vote when two districts are currently represented by appointed members and not by persons voted on by the taxpayers of their districts?

    Profits or people?

The 2012 election boils down to a simple question of values, and the parties offer two distinctly different visions to choose from. The Republican Party values wealth; the Democratic Party values people. The difference between the two parties is clearly evident in the politics of “Obama-care.”

    Trillion is a
    two-syllable word

Trillion is so easy to say. It’s become a common word in D.C.
Most people realize it is a lot of money.  The following analogy has helped many outside of D.C. to grasp the magnitude of a trillion: 1 million seconds is 12 days. 1 billion seconds is almost 32 years. 1 trillion seconds is 31,688 years!

    Signature achievement

One of President Obama’s and the Democrat’s signature achievements was the passage of the Affordable Care Act.
Most people don’t have a clue what is actually in the legislation. Visit this Web site  http://www.healthcare.gov/law/timeline/index.html to see a detailed description of the benefits and the accomplishments of the Act  and then ask yourself why Republicans want to repeal this.

    Making the
    punishment fit the crime

Recently on WSLS 10 news, the moderator interviewed the CEO of AEP and questioned him as to whether or not the public would experience an increase in their electric bills due to the severe storm that caused damage throughout our region and other areas and states. The CEO’s response was somewhat ambiguous but eluded to the fact that indeed AEP would seek compensation from its customers for the cost of overtime and repair in restoring power throughout those areas affected.

    Thanks for forum

Thanks to General John Douglass, 5th District Congressional candidate, for bringing his Help VA Families Forum to Bedford.
He has an impressive resume:  a career in the U.S. Air Force, serving on President Reagan’s National Security Council and Assistant Secretary of the Navy under President Clinton.  On August 1, 2012, he brought his ideas for giving VA families a fair chance for a better future to a panel discussion with community representatives.
