    Supports Hicks

I write to support Dr. John Hicks for the District 3 seat on the Bedford County School Board.
John Hicks graduated from the University of Georgia.  He later earned a master’s degree in education from Lynchburg College and doctorate in education from the University of Virginia.

    Women voters

53.5% of the voters are Women; that means that 46.5% of the voters are men. For every million who vote 535,000 are women and they favor Obama by 12% to 14%; Men favor Romney by 10%.
What this means it’s hard to make up the difference in number of votes. Try doing the math.

    I apologize

I must apologize to the citizens of the Second District of Bedford County.
I have been very privileged to have received your vote to represent you on the Bedford County Board of Supervisors.  It was an honor you gave me and I tried to fulfill it as I tried to represent you and all of Bedford County during my time on the Board.

    Insulted by Romney

I am insulted by Mitt Romney.
I am part of the 47 percent whose vote he will never get, but I do not feel victimized or entitled to government assistance.

    A big help!

Congratulations  to a young man in 11th grade at Staunton River High School.
In Downtown Moneta this past weekend, the rescue squad had to be called to assist and transport a lady that had severe muscle spasms which also affected her breathing. She was Spanish and spoke no English.

    What’s the rush?

If the current superintendent of schools is as qualified and well suited for the job as is needed, then ask yourself this question--”What’s the rush to renew his contract before the election?”
Why do certain members of the school board seem intent on doing the contract vote when two districts are currently represented by appointed members and not by persons voted on by the taxpayers of their districts?

    Profits or people?

The 2012 election boils down to a simple question of values, and the parties offer two distinctly different visions to choose from. The Republican Party values wealth; the Democratic Party values people. The difference between the two parties is clearly evident in the politics of “Obama-care.”

    Trillion is a
    two-syllable word

Trillion is so easy to say. It’s become a common word in D.C.
Most people realize it is a lot of money.  The following analogy has helped many outside of D.C. to grasp the magnitude of a trillion: 1 million seconds is 12 days. 1 billion seconds is almost 32 years. 1 trillion seconds is 31,688 years!
