  • ‘Democrats’ need to face reality

It’s amazing the way “Democratic” party hacks so reliably resort to accusations of racism for their own partisan political purposes.
Most of the time they try to say that President Obama’s critics are racists. How could anyone oppose the policies of Barack the Magnificent, the glory of whose splendor, like the rising sun, brings light and life to all? They must just hate him because they are racists.

  • What, exactly, is a ‘unit’ committee?

This week, I’d wanted to write about the clear signs that national Republicans – who are about to take over the whole Congress – are already acting as extremists and abandoning any notion of working with the president. But that subject will wait.
The fact is, I’ve been doubled up in laughter-inspired hysterics over the recent actions of Bedford County Republicans. I just couldn’t let the subject go without comment.

  • The faces of hunger

    By Helen Fiaschetti
    Administrative Manager
    Bedford Christian Ministries

If you were to look out at the sea of faces in the waiting room, you would find the faces of hunger, coming for whatever we can provide from what has been lovingly donated by residents of Bedford for the needy of our county.

  • In support of Virginia property rights

  • It’s time to get back to work

You’ve probably heard the old phrase, “good things come to those who wait.” Well, the American people have been waiting over six years for the construction of the. I’d say that’s long enough, wouldn’t you?

  • Recognizing the sacrifice of our nation’s veterans

    By Congressman Robert Hurt

  • Our veterans

They are our neighbors, our teachers, our friends.
They volunteer at the local food bank, coach our child’s sports team, sit beside us on Sunday morning at church.
Some are quite elderly; some still very young.
They are this nation’s veterans and they’ve served this nation with honor, with valor, with courage.

  • Hope and change

The first thing that came to my mind when I learned that American voters delivered control of the Senate into Republican hands was “hope and change.”
