  • Pandering to the Children of the Corn

Hillary Clinton is still struggling to get former Bernie Sanders supporters excited about her candidacy. The feeling these folks have toward Clinton seems to be much like the feeling the Republican base had toward Mitt Romney back in 2012. They didn’t like him and didn’t trust him. While they weren’t about to vote for Barack Obama, a lot may have simply not voted.

  • Candidates Forum

This Thursday, Oct. 13, a Candidates Forum will be held for Bedford’s Town Council candidates.
It’s a good chance for those candidates to be heard; it’s a good chance for Bedford’s residents to take time to listen to them prior to the Nov. 8 election.
House Speaker Thomas P. “Tip” O’Neill, Jr. (1912-1994), in his first political campaign in 1935, stated that “All politics is local.” Now that has become a popular saying when it comes to politics as a whole.

Support for Johannessen for Town Council

While I am somewhat biased in my opinion, I want to express my support for Bruce Johannessen in his campaign for a seat on Bedford Town Council.
In addition to a distinguished career with the VA Employment Commission where he worked for economic development Bruce has been active in our community through a leadership role in the local Elks and a long tenure on the Bedford Town Planning Board and officer on the Friends of the Library board.

  • Justice for victims of terror

September 11, 2001, is a day America will not forget. You probably know exactly where you were and what you were doing when tragedy struck at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in a field in western Pennsylvania. But even though 15 years have passed, for the families of those killed or injured on September 11th the memory of that day is all the more real.

  • Feral Cat Day and TNR

    By Karin Sherbin

October 16 is National Feral Cat Day, and locally Bedford Cares will mark the day by organizing volunteers to conduct Trap Neuter and Return (TNR) around the town and county to sterilize feral cats and vaccinate them against rabies.
TNR is a decades-old method of humanely managing feral cat colonies via sterilization. People care for the colonies until they die out.
