Today's Opinions

  • Liberals' antipathy toward Christianity

I remain convinced that liberals are hostile to Christianity.  Here is just one example of why I’ve come to that conclusion.
The Obama Administration did its best to force a family owned business called Hobby Lobby to comply with ObamaCare mandates on birth control. Hobby Lobby is not a publicly traded company. It’s entirely owned by David and Barbara Green and their three children.

  • Shameful antics of House Republicans

Just before the 113th Congress left for its month-long August vacation, House Republicans finally got something done: They voted to sue the president.
That’s it. And that’s all they’ve got. They’ve accomplished nothing else all year long for the American people.
The president is to be sued because of executive actions he took to delay some implementations of the new health care law. He has also been cited by Republicans “for doing nothing” on the border crisis.

Of course, Centerfest is about food, art, music, shopping, BMX, and carnival rides! But do you know what makes Centerfest the biggest success? It’s all of our volunteers!
Maybe you’ve been thinking you want to be involved in Centerfest, but you weren’t sure how to make that happen. Have you thought about being a Centerfest volunteer?

  • Honoring a man of integrity

It is often said that our actions in difficult situations are true indicators of character.  That holds true for former Sixth District Congressman M. Caldwell Butler.

  • An invitation to connect on LinkedIn

I was amazed when I read Rick Howell’s  Liberal Agenda last week. I never thought I was important enough to become the object of a political activist’s dirty tricks. It seems I was wrong, and I must say I’m very flattered. I came to that conclusion when Mr. Howell wrote that I had been “snooping around” on one of his social media accounts.

  • County should ante up

Now that the Bedford Regional Water Authority has nixed George Aznavorian’s proposal to receive connection credits in return for his promise of $100,000 towards the project to extend public sewer service to Moneta Elementary School, Bedford County needs to quickly take action to fund its portion of the cost for the project.

  • Disrespecting the liberal pantheon

It seems, from last week’s Liberal Agenda, that I raised Rick Howell’s temperature above the boiling point by disrespecting two of the demigods of his silly political party’s pantheon. My suggestion that John and Robert Kennedy’s primary claim to the status of legends is that they were murder victims seems to have caused him to boil over.
Mr. Howell claims that I “can’t understand the idealism and passion for social justice they embodied.”
