    Thanks Sheriff Brown

I hope Mr. Hackworth was watching Good Morning America this morning (Monday, Dec. 13) on WSET when Ed Smart, father of Elizabeth Smart, talked about the sexual predator, Brian Mitchell, kidnapping his daughter Elizabeth Smart in June of 2002.
Smart was found alive nine months later on March 12, 2003. Mr. Smart also spoke in glowing terms about the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Forces and how important they are in protecting our children.

  • Let Peace be our Christmas

December has been a momentous month and it’s not even Christmas yet. But much has happened that makes me wonder about whether we’re properly living the true spirit of Christmas.

A death and a death’s anniversary squarely put the issue of war and peace before us yet again. Imagine that at Christmas time, as Christians celebrate the birth of…who? The Prince of Peace? That’s right. Not the Prince of War and Guns.

  • "Democrats" gift to the GOP

The “Democrats” reaction, in the wake of last month’s election reminds me of how the Republicans reacted to the election of 2006. They couldn’t quite figure out what happened to them, wandered around on the freeway in a daze, and got run over by another electoral 18-wheeler in 2008.

  • The Christmas Account

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

    Not truthful

Reference is made to the three letters on 11-17-10 concerning my letter of 11-10-10 about Sheriff Mike Brown.
First, it sounds as if Sheriff Brown is telling three different people what to write as they all have the same characteristic style. One, they’re not true; and two, they try to put the blame on me instead of where it belongs, Mike Brown.

  • Permanent fix to Medicare reimbursement rates needed

Last week, Congress took an important step to make sure that our senior citizens can continue to see their doctors for care by protecting the reimbursement rates for doctors who participate in the Medicare system. The House passed bipartisan legislation that blocks the 25% cut in Medicare payments to doctors that could have gone into effect on December 31, which will ensure seniors and military families will be able to continue to see their doctors. This legislation is fully paid for and now goes to the President for his signature.
