  • Are right-wing politics ruining Christianity?

In the aftermath of the controversial Alabama U.S. Senate race, many are wondering how people who describe themselves as Christians could have gone to the polls and voted for Roy Moore, a man credibly accused of child molestation?
It’s a legitimate question, and one that harkens back to 2016: How could so many Christians have voted for a man with Donald Trump’s obvious moral shortcomings? It’s not enough to shrug and say, well, Hillary Clinton was worse. That’s a lazy answer, and it’s not accurate, either.

  • Christmas vandals

I detest vandals. I can understand a thief. He benefits, or at least he thinks he will, from what he stole. Typically what they get from their theft, like the fellow who held up the Walmart this month, is small in comparison with what they will get from the court if caught and convicted. But, at least they think they are going to benefit.
Nobody benefits from vandalism. The victim of the vandalism loses because his property is damaged or destroyed. The vandal does not gain from his victim’s loss either.

  • A promise kept

Friday morning President Trump signed into law a promise he had made while on the campaign trail, providing Americans with a sweeping overhaul of the US tax code.
The law had been adopted by Congress in a major political victory for the Republicans, but as is the case most of the time anymore, the victory came without bi-partisan support.

The magic of Christmas comes in many shapes and forms.

  • And take that cowboy outfit with you

On the campaign trail in Alabama, Roy Moore was a clownish figure prancing around on stage in a campy-looking cowboy outfit, a ten-gallon hat, and a little silver pistol he’d pull out.
But after his defeat by Democrat Doug Jones Dec. 12, he’s just another disgraced clown in the Trump circus, an unseemly show produced by “angry whites,” religious conservatives, and ultra-nationalists. I’m sure other Trump voters meant well but nonetheless made a huge mistake when they cast a ballot for him.

  • Why are they crowing?

I don’t understand why the “Democrats,” and their media lapdogs, are crowing so loudly over Roy Moore’s loss to Doug Jones in last week’s special election for senator. Jones would have looked like a complete loser if he wasn’t able to defeat Moore after all the allegations about dating high school girls, and allegedly molesting a 14 year old, when he was in his early 30s.

  • The Miraculous Birth

    Luke 2

1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.
2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
