    Appreciation for response

On behalf of Lake Christian Ministries board members, cherished volunteers and the hundreds of SML-area neighbors who we assist each week, I would like to publicly express our awe and sincere appreciation for the Lake Community’s response during the “Roanoke Valley Gives” on-line fundraising event last week.

Seeking 22nd VA House of Delegates Democratic candidates

As of yet, Kathy Byron is unopposed for the 22nd Virginia House of Delegates seat.  The Democratic Committees of the 22nd would like to change that by coming up with viable Democratic candidates and we hope you can help.

    Mama cows thank you

I would like to thank all of you hard working taxpayers for spending over $10,000 per mama cow to furnish pristine well water for 20 of my cows.

    Always good for a laugh

Rick Howell’s belief in the lessor intelligence of those who failed to support Hillary must include the expectation that none of us know what the Court ruled in “denying” Gore his shot at the White House.

    Two Emmylou’s and a Dwight

When did concerts become so expensive?  My BFF-husband priced upcoming Emmylou Harris, also “Da-Wight” Yoakum.  My Stars, $100 a ticket!  Howcome?  Willie/Merle, John Anderson, and Pam Tillis were more generous (about $40-$50 a ticket), David Crosby $69.  Super-talented Tellico at Bower Center awhile back was less than $20.

  • Bill addresses ballot shortage

    By Delegate Scott Garrett

The 2017 General Assembly Session has reached the half-way point! On Tuesday, we experienced “Crossover.” This 45-day session is more like two sessions, with House bills introduced by Delegates and Senate bills introduced by Senators considered in the respective bodies during the first half. Those bills that pass the full body then “cross over” to the other body (a true bicameral legislature) for consideration and action prior to being reviewed by the Governor.

Cards, candy and flowers will be sent or handed to loved ones across this country next Tuesday, February 14, as gestures of love, adoration and consideration.
The tradition of Valentine’s Day is celebrated in some form on nearly every continent, but is this really necessary?

  • Muslim ban an outrageous immorality

The disaster promised by The Great Stupidity of 2016 is now in full form, and decent Americans everywhere are disgusted and outraged by the extreme actions of our illegitimate and accidental president.
The notion of Donald Trump in the Oval Office was always a nightmare, and now that bad dream has arms and legs. The ban on Muslims from seven countries – only the ones where Trump doesn’t have business interests – is immoral and unconstitutional.
