  • Softball: The cold never bothered them anyway

    The air was cold and crisp and the wind was fierce and painful during a softball rematch between Bedford County rivals Jefferson Forest and Staunton River.
        

    Jefferson Forest won the first matchup 3-2 to defend home field. Staunton River did the same Monday April 16. The Lady Golden Eagles were victorious 5-3.
        

  • Track and Field: Back on Track

    It had been nearly a decade since a Bedford County school has hosted a track meet. This season Jefferson Forest, Liberty and Staunton River all received brand new surfaces on the tracks–ditching the asphalt tracks in favor of rubber surfaces.
      

     “A rubberized surface is easier on the legs, safer and faster,” Staunton River Head Coach Joe Curcio said.
        

  • Soccer: Staunton River atop Blue Ridge District

    The Staunton River (4-1-1, 1-0) girls soccer team entered the week with a four point edge over Lord Botetourt (3-0) in the Blue Ridge District standings.
        

  • Tennis: JF Tennis brings home hardware

    The Jefferson Forest boys tennis team continued its dominating season on Saturday April 14 at the Heritage Invitational.
      

    Competing against Liberty Christian Academy and host school Heritage in doubles and singles the Cavaliers won everything, literally.
        

    The duos of Jacob Hannell and Robbie Hall, Jeff Scott and Jordan Lumpkin along with Daniel Burger and Jonathan Peterson all won their respective doubles championships.

  • Baseball: Staunton River Baseball begins district play with two wins

    Staunton River baseball has been on a tear as of late. Since losing to Jefferson Forest 3-1 on March 17 the Golden Eagles have not lost.
        

    The team officially started district play on Wednesday April 11 with a dominating 13-3 win over Fleming in five innings. Two days later the Golden Eagles traveled to Lord Botetourt to face off against the Cavaliers and picked up their second district win in three days with a 9-6 victory.
        

  • Track and Field: April 11-14 Track Highlights

    Liberty- Minutemen basketball standout Roman Ridley continued his impressive performance on the track this week. Ridley won first place in the 100 meter dash at the All American Relays in Radford with a time of 11.25, which qualifies him for 3A state meet in June. Ridley also ran a 22.96 in the 200 meter dash to qualify him for states in that event as well.

  • Baseball: No shortage of offense for Golden Eagles

    It had been about 10 days since either team stepped on the diamond to play a game. But on the return from Spring Break the Staunton River Golden Eagles had no shortage of offense.
      

    Staunton River took the first of two match ups between the Bedford County rivals, 12-2.
      

  • Softball: Lady Minutemen continue to roll

    Twelve days after defeating Staunton River 4-0 on the Lady Golden Eagles field the Lady Minutemen softball team hosted the Lady Golden Eagles.
        

    The score was closer but the result was the same. Liberty (7-0) defeated Staunton River (3-3) 1-0. Two days earlier the Lady Minutemen took down Lord Botetourt 3-1.
